The applause of the crowd, the excitment of the city, and a beat all its own. No, its no longer the '06 Saints I am talking about. That was for the Tennessee Titans, with extented coach Jeff Fisher, 1st year QB Vince Young, and a team thriving to make a splash this year in the NFL.
The Saints faithful, which packed the house last nite, are thinking, where did Sean Payton go? One year with the Saints and Sean Payton could do no wrong. Taking REggie Bush with his first pick in last years draft, surprise draft Marquise Colston and the city using Katrina to lift spirits, while fans celebrated an owner who tried his best to move the team from the almost forgotten city, the Saints, and their faithful are living in a world of defeat. Where has the spirit gone in a mere 12 months?
Joe Horn and his leadership of this team, where have you gone? Oh yeah, east to Atlanta. Sean Payton, knowing he could do no wrong, made a possible faux pax as he left the heart and the beat of the team walk, released Joe Horn, and the city has been regretting that move ever since.
They could have used Joe Horn last nite as a beleaguered, and lost Drew Brees was picked off 4 times as no reciever could step up and help out their leader. The running game was paltry at best, now with Deuce MacAllister out for the year, Bush and company combined to put 34 yards up for the game, and only Colston put up near 100 yards receiving.
Vince Young and the Titans put on a show for the New Orleans fans, as they dominated both sides of the ball, and treating the fans to a 31-14 victory in their house.
Where has the Spirit of New Orleans gone? The fans are left wondering.
