Hundreds of hopeful Iraq War veterans and their families had their hearts broken on Veterans Day when their heroes, the New England Patriots, were MIA at a Gillette Stadium luncheon billed as a Patriots tribute to the National Guardsmen's bravery and sacrifice. "We were told that the Patriots were going to be there - that's why we brought our families," said Sgt. Sean Morrison, who returned from his second year-long tour in Iraq in September. "All the soldiers showed up in uniform and their families were in Patriots gear waiting for the Pats to show up." National Guard Public Affairs Officer Major Lisa Ahaesy attributed the mishap to a scheduling conflict and said the Patriots were not to blame. She said she notified the media on Friday that the Patriots would not be present, but didn't tell the soldiers because the Guard still planned to honor them. "The intent was not to have a picture with the New England Patriots players but to welcome home the more than 300 soldiers that so bravely have served our country," Ahaesy said.

Shut the fuck up. They are a football team. Their job is to play football and win if they can. Don't make it more than what it is. They are not responsible for the morale of the country's armed forces. Are you going to blame Belichick for Pearl Harbor and tie him in to the Watergate scandal also? Outside of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame, I have never seen a team so resented for their success than the Patriots are right now. Y'all ought to sit back and appreciate what you have seen over the last six plus years and accept the fact that this team is better than yours and resign yourself to knowing you can tell your grandkids about this franchise.

Idiot the point is that many of the troops who were deployed to Iraq were from the New England area, and while not everyone of them is a die hard Patriots fan
there are a majority of those fans who I am sure would love to have a visit from
a top class team like the Pats. so IMO this was a blatent slap in the face to all
service men & women
