According to a source with knowledge of the Baltimore Ravens' decision-making, team owner Steve Bisciotti has told coach Brian Billick he will return next season, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Billick
The Ravens (4-9) have lost seven straight games, plummeting out of playoff contention and raising questions about Billick's job security. But the source said Billick was told he will return in a meeting with Bisciotti, team president Dick Cass and general manager Ozzie Newsome, the source said, according to the report.
What's more, Bisciotti does not blame Billick for the team's poor play, according to the report.
"The Ravens are not naive," the source said, according to The Sun. "Everyone has seen the injuries and the quarterback play."
On Tuesday, Billick said he expected to return as coach in 2008.
Bisciotti has not publicly stated that Billick will return, as he has a policy of not speaking to the media until the season ends. Billick, who is under contract through 2010, has a 84-65 record as the Ravens' head coach. He agreed to a four-year contract extension after Baltimore's 13-3 season in 2006. He also led the Ravens to a victory in Super Bowl XXXV over the New York Giants.
Baltimore visits the winless Miami Dolphins this Sunday.

I can point the finger directly at Billick and his staff for the first loss to the Bengals, the Bills loss and the Patriots loss. Not only that, we are one of the most, if not the most penalized team in the league. That is a glaring symptom of bad coaching. He has lost this team. He has to go.

Much as I hate to agree, because I generally like Billick's bad coaching decisions (they benefit me and my team), you are right. Billick has never delivered on the offensive promise he had when he came on board, and has overseen the waste of some excellent talent. He needs to go.

Yes!!! Ravens give you like 1 good year and then have 3 or 4 bad ones and then the cycle repeats over and over...Billick is a goof and I am glad the dude is returning...NOW, LET'S GET BACK TO THE STEELER WINNING SO WE CAN LOCK UP THIS DAMN AFCN!!!

Keep climbing up that '08 draft board, Baltimore. This team is officially a train wreck. They can't possibly be keeping Billick on for next year.

I've been pretty numb to this mess for a few weeks now. The Steeler beatdown pretty much emphasized where this season was going. Even the Pats loss didn't sting as badly as it should have. This is a dead team walking right now. We are going to Seattle to lose there and we'll probably lose when you all come to town. I guess I'm a dead fan walking also. I'm really hoping that they will rethink their position on Billick and promote Rex Ryan. He would be a much better fit for a team based on playing tough defense and mistake free offense. I'm sick of Billick's square peg/round hole bullshit. The good news is that we are flirting with a top 5 draft pick.
